    Sheila Anne is an undergraduate student at the University of the Philippines Baguio currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Psychology. She is interested in culture and religion-related research as well as certain fields in psychology such as cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, and forensic psychology. Currently exploring the different fields of anthropology, she is hoping to pursue a career in either science or law.   • Aiseel Mae Custodio


    Aiseel Mae is an undergraduate student at the University of the Philippines Baguio and is currently taking a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Political Science. Her topics of interest in academe are culture, kinship, gender, and sexuality. She is also interested in politics, especially political behaviours and public policies.     Florabea (Bea) is an undergraduate student at the University of the Philippines Baguio, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences, with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Political Science. Her academic and research interests include gender, ethnicity, political behaviour, and social welfare. She aspires to pursue a career in either academia or law.   • Charlene Jemima Lopez


    Charlene is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences degree, with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Political Science at the University of the Philippines Baguio. Her academic interests include race, gender, and public policy and administration. She is an active member of various youth organizations in Baguio City and a trainee of UP Baguio Debate Varsity. Outside of academics, Charlene enjoys binge-watching TV series, reading folk tales, watching informational videos, and playing with her dog.   • Danielle Ann Mabalot


    Danielle is an undergraduate student at the University of the Philippines Baguio pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences, with a major in Anthropology and a minor in Psychology. Currently, she is very interested in child development and hoping to pursue a career in it, all the while still exploring the different fields of anthropology.   • Mikaela Roasa


    Mikaela Roasa is a University of Alberta graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology with a Double Minor in Sociology and Women's and Gender Studies. She is currently working in publishing and hopes to one day pursue a career in writing that allows her to critique interlocking systems of oppression within popular culture.   • Danika Freeman-Lau


    Danika graduated from the University of Alberta in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with a minor in Biological Sciences (with Distinction). Her research on eugenics was accepted into the 28th Annual Richard Frucht Memorial Lecture Series and Student Conference (March 2020). Since graduating, she has been accepted into the Master of Arts in Communication and Technology (MACT) at the University of Alberta and is also interested in pursuing further education in the field of criminology. Outside of school, she works as a gymnastics coach and enjoys listening to music, travelling, and playing with her dogs. | Mentoring on: Academics; Career

  • Beatriz Rubio


    Beatriz currently works at the Mazankowski Heart Institute as a full-time Cardiovascular Surgery Nurse and at the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a casual Medicine Float Nurse. She recently graduated from the Nursing (After Degree) program at the University of Alberta and also previously completed a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Specialization and Research Certificate in Science (Psychology) at the same university. She is an active member of the Philippine Students’ Association (PhilSA), holding executive positions for the past three years: VP Finance (2017-2018), Vice-President (2018-2019) and President (2019-2020), and now serving as a member of PhilSA’s Board of Directors. When she is not working or studying, she’s probably baking, reading a book, or travelling outside the city! | Mentoring on: Community; Leadership

  • Dorota Surma


    Dorota is a University of Alberta alumni that graduated in 2020 with a double major in Anthropology and Women’s and Gender Studies. Her academic interests are in gender, sex and sexuality, crime and deviance, and philosophy. She hopes to go back in Fall 2020 to pursue either a Master’s in Anthropology or to work on becoming a paralegal. Currently, she is spending time at home taking care of her first-born daughter (born November 2020) and working on macramé projects. | Mentoring on: Academics

  • Maissie Hillman


    Maissie is an undergraduate student completing a double major in Linguistics and French Language and Literature with a minor in Psychology. Alongside her degree, she is working towards certificates in Translation Studies and Community Engagement and Service-Learning (CSL). She is an active member of various campus organizations including the Philippine Students’ Association (PhilSA) and the Undergraduate Linguistics Association (ULA), holding executive positions for both associations. Maissie's research interests include parent-child interactions in support of children's literacy development and she is honoured to work as a research assistant in Dr. Trelani (Milburn) Chapman's Child Language and Literacy Lab (Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, University of Alberta). Her professional aspirations include working in a field that will enable her to assist communities facing a variety of barriers to quality resources, especially those in the Philippines.

    Outside of school and extracurriculars, Maissie enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends, curling up with a good book, and feeding into her wanderlust!
